KUALA LUMPUR – 39 foreign women have been detained for allegedly providing sexual services following police raids on 10 massage parlours in the Klang Valley on Friday.

Bukit Aman criminal investigation department’s anti-vice, gambling and secret societies division (D7) principal assistant director Mohamad Farouk Eshak said some of the women were as young as 19. 22 of them came from Thailand, Laos (6), Vietnam (5), Indonesia (5) and Cambodia (1).

Also detained were nine men, including two foreigners – one who was manning a counter at one of the premises and a customer.

“We found that most of these massage parlours offer sexual services for RM50 to RM320 to foreigners and regular customers. The foreign women were employed without permits as well,” he told Bernama.

Checks showed that the women entered Malaysia via social passes and did not hold any identification papers.

In a separate case, two bookies for the Euro 2024 were detained in Jalan Genting Klang and Taman Wahyu, respectively.

Farouk said the duo were paid RM3,000-RM5,000 monthly and they made up to RM12,000 a day in profits. – July 7, 2024
