SHAH ALAM – The police have finally caught up with the two men, aged 28 and 33, suspected of breaking into the house of a Selangor FC player after a manhunt that lasted more than a month.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said both suspects have criminal records and a history of drug use as well as alleged involvement in a string of burglaries.
“We caught them on June 26 along Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kuantan in Marang after they were involved in a road accident. They are now in remand, which ends on July 3,” he said in a press conference at the district police headquarters today.
Hussein added that the duo is suspected of breaking into houses not just in Selangor, but in Terengganu, Pahang, and Melaka.
“They are involved in nine burglaries, stealing cars and robberies. The urine tests also showed that they were positive for methamphetamine.”
Following the arrests, the police also seized a white Honda City and two fake number plates in a separate raid.
Other items seized were 17 bags, seven mobile phones, two Proton car keys, two barrels of carbon monoxide, a Yamaha motorcycle and various items believed to be used for breaking into houses.
“The police also found 15 private documents, 17 watches, five rings and four walkie talkies. We also seized an iPad, two road tax papers, sunglasses and clothes. The items seized are valued at around RM55,000,” said Hussein.
The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal code for house-breaking, which carries up to 14 years’ jail upon conviction.
In May, Selangor defender Khuzaimi Piee said his home was broken into while he was out at a training session.
He recounted on Instagram that he found the front and back doors of his house open when he returned from training at 9pm. Several items were found missing from his home, including a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle, four crossbody bags of various brands and a passport.
This was the second incident involving a Selangor football player since the acid attack on Faisal Halim on May 5 at a major mall in Petaling Jaya. – July 2, 2024
