PETALING JAYA – Eligible applicants for the diesel subsidy experiencing difficulties with the process can seek assistance from the Bukit Gasing assemblyman’s office for registration support.
Assemblyman Rajiv Rishyakaran said his office’s initiative aimed to help people who were struggling with the registration process.
“For some, it may not be difficult, but for others, there are challenges. I want to ensure no one is left behind.
“I received feedback that after diesel prices were floated, some small business operators still do not know how to apply for the Subsidised Diesel Control System (SKDS).
“In the Petaling Jaya area, there are not many people with diesel cars and pickups, but there are still some who do not know how to apply,” he said at the Selangor state programme Jualan Ehsan Rahmah, an initiative to help residents of Bukit Gasing register for the diesel subsidy.
As for school bus operators, many are not senior citizens but individual operators, and they are often not very familiar with managing online applications, he explained.
“Even in urban areas, not everyone knows how to use the internet. With this effort, we can help them.
“Last week, I received feedback from an individual who was frustrated because he did not know how to apply online,” he said.
Previously, Scoop reported that many people were unaware they should apply for fleet cards to purchase diesel at a subsidised rate.
Yesterday, tow truck operators in Peninsular Malaysia requested that the government consider extending fleet card eligibility to them as well for the diesel subsidy.
Last week, Deputy Finance Minister Lim Hui Ying said that the fleet cards, issued under SKDS for 33 types of public transport and goods vehicles, had a filling limit based on the volume of diesel (in litres) rather than the total value. – June 22, 2024
