KUALA LUMPUR – A fire has broken out at a building at the Genting Highlands outdoor theme park this afternoon.
No casualties were reported.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department said it received a call at about 4.55pm today.
In social media videos, thick smoke is seen billowing out of one building while people gathered near the Genting Sky Avenue bus terminal.
According to the Fire Department, the fire broke out on the second floor of the theme park before spreading up to the fourth floor.
Around 20 personnel were dispatched to the scene.
By 7.20pm, a department spokesman said the fire had been put out, and no victims were involved in the blaze.
Resorts World Genting, in a statement, confirmed that the fire broke out at 4.30pm at the Sky Avenue mall building which was immediately evacuated.
“All other areas at the resort are not affected,” it said.
Facebook users who marked themselves present at the site of the fire said the cable car service had been suspended, while the Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park had also been affected. – June 14, 2024
