PETALING JAYA – Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director, Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain, spent an hour at the residence of murdered autistic boy, Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, but kept mum on the progress of the investigation.

Shuhaily left the Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai at 2.08pm after an hour at the scene, without addressing the media.

Around ten vehicles, including those from police forensic teams, departed about ten minutes after him.

This morning at 10.15am, Zayn Rayyan’s mother, Ismanira Abdul Manaf, was brought back to the residence to re-enact the events leading up to Zayn’s disappearance and the discovery of his body last year.

It is understood that only Ismanira toured the scene while her husband, Zaim Ikhwan Zahari, was not present.

Both Ismanira and Zaim were first arrested by police on May 31, and were remanded for seven days from June 1 to assist in the investigation of Zayn Rayyan’s murder.

On Friday, the magistrates’ court allowed police to extend their remand for another six days until June 13.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the extended remand period was necessary to verify certain matters and discrepancies within their systems.

Zayn Rayyan’s body was found in a creek about 200m from his family’s home on December 6, last year.

Despite widespread checks on other apartment residents and DNA testing, police have not been able to arrest anyone until the parents’ arrest. – June 10, 2024
