KUALA LUMPUR – The mother of autistic boy Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, who is currently in police remand to assist in the investigation of the boy’s murder, was reported to be brought back to their residence at Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai.
The purpose is believed to be to re-enact the circumstances surrounding Zayn’s disappearance until his body was found on December 6, last year.
However, it is unknown whether Zayn’s father was brought to the location with his wife.
It is understood that the woman will also be taken back to the location where the child was found, which is a river drainage approximately 200m from the family’s residential block.
Police were also seen carrying a child mannequin, However, its purpose remains uncertain, Berita Harian reported.
Last week, the remand period for Zayn’s parents was extended for another six days until June 13.
Zaim Ikhwan Zahari and Ismanira Abdul Manaf’s lawyer, Fahmi Abd Moin, said that magistrate Aina Mohamad Kamal granted the police’s application to extend the couple’s remand during today’s proceedings.
On December 6, last year, Zayn Rayyan’s body was found in a creek about 200m from his family’s home at Idaman Apartment, Damansara Damai.
The victim was confirmed to have been murdered based on the autopsy, which revealed injuries to his neck and body.
The day before, police confirmed they had received a report on the child’s disappearance from his family.
The duo, both 28 years old, was arrested on May 31, and the police obtained a seven-day remand starting June 1st to assist ongoing investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
It was reported that there are few new developments in police investigations, including new evidence and their statements recorded previously, which led to their arrest.
In February, Bukit Aman criminal investigation department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said the police have never halted the investigation into Zayn’s death. – June 10, 2024
