KAJANG – The suspected burglary of Selangor FC footballer Khuzaimi Piee’s home in Shah Alam was a mere coincidence and unrelated to the other attacks against the football club’s players.

Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan confirmed that Khuzaimi’s home was not specifically targeted just because the footballer was the owner of the house.

It is learned that the robber had spied on other homes too beforehand.

“(Khuzaimi’s) home was not targeted because the victim is a football player. It is a coincidence and has no relation to the recent attacks concerning other footballers,” he told a press conference at the launch of the Taman Angkat Amanita Selangor contingent at SK Taman Rakan today.

“Investigations also found that the suspect who broke in did not target Khuzaimi’s house alone. The robber had spied on several houses before his house.

“We have a statement on this. When the robber feels a house is high-risk, they will look for another. When they discover that a house is unoccupied, then they will rob it.”

Hussein also revealed that the suspect’s vehicle had been using a fake licence plate number.

On May 22, Khuzaimi lodged a police report, stating that he arrived home after a training session to find the front and back doors of his home open and the house ransacked.

In his police report, he said several items were missing from his home, including a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle, four crossbody bags of various brands and a passport.

The incident occurred after other cases involving football players, such as an acid attack on his Selangor FC teammate Faisal Halim on May 5 at a major shopping mall in Petaling Jaya.

Other incidents include Terengganu FC’s Akhyar Rashid being injured in a robbery on May 2 and Johor Darul Ta’zim FC’s Safiq Rahim having his car window smashed on May 8. – June 8, 2024
