KUALA LUMPUR – Negri Sembilan Education Director Datuk Roslan Hussin will remain in his post as the Education Ministry has not received any official notification of his appointment to the PKR central leadership council (MPP), Minister Fadhlina Sidek said today.
“I request that he continue to focus on his duties at the Negri Sembilan Education Department as usual.
“He remains the director and is still a civil servant,” she told reporters after an event at the National Science Centre here.
Fadhlina, who is Wanita PKR chief and also a member of the MPP, said this when asked about the controversy regarding Roslan’s appointment to the party leadership council.
Roslan’s name appeared as a newly appointed MPP member in a press statement issued by PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil on May 26.
Other new MPP members announced were former Sabah PKR chief Datuk Sangkar Rasam and Kuala Terengganu branch chief Azan Ismail.
Malaysiakini reported that Roslan’s appointment to the MPP was questioned after a poster allegedly by the Negri Sembilan Education Department appeared on Facebook congratulating him on his appointment to the MPP.
Among those who questioned Roslan’s appointment to the MPP was PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden
The state education department subsequently denied issuing the poster.

Public Service Department rules prohibit senior civil servants from actively participating in politics, including holding positions in political parties.
A check on the PKR website shows that Roslan’s name is missing from the MPP line-up as announced on May 26, which includes a reshuffle of state party leaders. – June 1, 2024
