MetMalaysia alert: thunderstorms to lash multiple states

Meteorological Dept warns that thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in nearly all states until at least 6pm today

KUALA LUMPUR – Thunderstorms and heavy rain are expected in almost all states until at least 6pm today, especially on the west coast of the peninsula, Sabah and Sarawak.

The Meteorological Department warned of a rain intensity of more than 20/mm per hour in the affected areas.

Among the states heavily affected are Selangor, the Federal Territories of Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Negri Sembilan, Melaka, and most of Perak, Kelantan, as well as Melaka.

Other areas include Baling (Kedah), Terengganu’s Besut, Setiu and Hulu Terengganu, Johor’s Tangkak, Segamat and Muar.

Meanwhile, the bad weather will also hit Sarawak’s Sibu, Mukah, Kapit, Bintulu and Miri.

Sabah is also not spared, as Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu and Tuaran will be expecting heavy rain. – June 1, 2024
