KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) has once again showcased its commitment to excellence in corporate reporting by clinching the prestigious Gold Award at the 2024 Australasian Reporting Awards (ARA) ceremony in Australia.

The Gold Award, presented to MRCB in Sydney yesterday for its 2022 Integrated Annual Report, underscores the company’s dedication to transparency and accountability.

In a statement, the company said this marks the sixth consecutive year that MRCB has received the coveted Gold Award.

The ARA, a renowned benchmark for annual reporting excellence in the Asia-Pacific region, recognised MRCB’s 2022 Integrated Annual Report for its high-quality coverage and adherence to stringent evaluation criteria.

The Employees Provident Fund (EPF) stands as MRCB’s largest shareholder, further solidifying the company’s position within Malaysia’s corporate landscape.

The award also solidifies MRCB’s position as a leader in corporate transparency, governance, and communication, not only in Malaysia but on a regional stage, the company said.

MRCB chief corporate officer Amarjit Chhina expressed his gratitude for the recognition.

“There have been significant improvements in corporate reporting across many companies over the past few years, driven by more rigorous disclosure requirements from regulators and other stakeholders,” he said.

“It is an honour to receive the ARA Gold Award again, which we believe demonstrates our ongoing dedication to enhancing our disclosures and maintaining honest and transparent communication with all our stakeholders.”

MRCB, a prominent urban property and construction enterprise, has been listed on the main board of Bursa Malaysia since 1971.

The company operates across three primary domains, consisting of property development and investment, engineering, construction and environment, as well as facilities management and parking.

Renowned for its role as the visionary company behind the RM18 billion KL Sentral CBD, MRCB has been at the forefront of transit-oriented development (TOD) in Malaysia, establishing a benchmark for forthcoming fully integrated TOD projects, among others.

The ARA, established over seven decades ago in 1950, is administered by an independent non-profit organisation with the backing of professional bodies committed to enhancing the quality of business and financial reporting.

The Gold Award for MRCB represents the pinnacle of reporting and disclosure standards, benchmarked against global best practices and international standards focusing on the quality and completeness of reporting concerning the organisation’s behaviour and performance. – May 24, 2024
