KUALA LUMPUR – Another person has been arrested over the petrol bomb attack on an entertainment centre on Jalan Yap Kwan Seng last week.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa said the 28-year-old male suspect was arrested today and had been remanded from today until Thursday.

With this a total of five people, aged between 25 and 28, have been arrested over the incident which occurred at around 2.18am on May 9, Bernama reported Rusdi as saying.

He added that remand for the other four would end tomorrow and police were seeking an extension.

Those arrested will be investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for committing mischief by fire and Section 506 for criminal intimidation.

CCTV camera footage of the incident – showing four men parking their motorcycles on the side of the road outside the nightclub prior to hurling an object at the premises – had gone viral on social media.

They fled the scene, while members of the public were recorded helping to extinguish the fire.

Rusdi previously said police had recorded statements from the premises owner and the entertainment centre’s manager to assist in the investigation. – May 13, 2024
