KUALA LUMPUR – The Klang Valley is choked with traffic during rush hour due to flash floods that hit Petaling Jaya, Selayang, Gombak and Kuala Lumpur.
The Kuala Lumpur Information Department posted on Facebook that waters started rising around 4pm today.
According to the Irrigation and Drainage Department’s PublicInfoBanjir account on X, areas in the Petaling district experienced 42.5mm of rainfall in an hour.
Earlier, the Meteorological Department issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in the peninsula’s west coast and Sarawak until 9pm.
The areas expected to be affected include Perak (Kerian; Larut, Matang and Selama; Kuala Kangsar; Manjung; Kinta; Perak Tengah; Kampar; Bagan Datuk; and Hilir Perak), Pahang (Jerantut, Maran and Kuantan), Selangor (Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor and Gombak), Negri Sembilan (Seremban, Port Dickson and Rembau), Melaka (Alor Gajah), Johor (Pontian, Kulai and Johor Bahru), the Sarawak divisions of Kuching (Bau and Kuching), Sri Aman (Lubok Antu), Sibu (Kanowit and Selangau), Kapit (Song, Kapit and Bukit Mabong) and Bintulu (Tatau). – April 30, 2024
