KUALA KUBU BAHARU – The leader of a local DAP branch said he chose to join the party due to its commitment to championing the rights of young people, unlike many other political outfits.
Muhammad Dzulfiqri Md Daud, 21, highlighted past challenges he faced when attempting to engage with other political entities on behalf of youth interests, noting that such efforts were often met with indifference.
“When we go to other parties to champion the rights of the youth, we were disregarded. DAP welcomed us with open arms.”
“DAP also allowed youngsters to join programmes that help the people and uphold our rights,” he told reporters at the party’s Kuala Kubu Baharu community service centre today.
He further underscored DAP’s efforts to facilitate youth participation in community programmes and ensure their rights are upheld.
In a press conference earlier today, Dzulfiqri delivered the applications of 50 Malay members for the formation of DAP’s Jalan Kemboja branch, which also became active today.

Dzulfiqri, who had been with the party for four months, was named the branch’s chairman.
As chairman, he hoped for the victory of DAP’s Kuala Kubu Baharu candidate, Pang Sock Tao, in the upcoming by-election, so the fight for youths’ rights could be carried forward.
Polling for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election is scheduled for May 11, while early voting is set for May 7.
The seat was vacated following assemblywoman Lee Kee Hiong’s death last month due to ovarian cancer.
Lee has held the state seat for DAP since 2013 and was praised for her contributions here.
Currently, the poll will see a four-cornered fight between Pang (Pakatan Harapan), Khairul Azhari Saut (Perikatan Nasional), Hafizah Zainudin (Parti Rakyat Malaysia), and Nyau Ke Xin (independent). – April 28, 2024
