KUALA LUMPUR – Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) will jointly manage operations and party machinery for the Kuala Kubu Baharu by-election, unity government secretariat chief Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki said.
The task has been given to BN secretary-general Datuk Zambry Abdul Kadir and DAP national organising secretary Steven Sim.
Asyraf said this was decided at a meeting of the unity government leadership consultative council held at Seri Perdana, Putrajaya, this evening.
“The meeting also agreed to let the top leadership nominate the candidate to represent the unity government’s parties in the by-election,” Asyraf said in a statement after the meeting.
Zambry is higher education minister while Sim is human resources minister.
A by-election for Kuala Kubu Baharu will be held on May 11, with nomination of candidates to be held two weeks earlier on April 27.
The seat was vacated with the death of three-term assemblyperson Lee Kee Hiong of DAP on March 21.
Selangor PH has said that a candidate would be chosen from DAP to defend the seat. – April 17, 2024
