SHAH ALAM – Hafizul Harawi who is suspected of opening fire at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Sunday, has touched down at the police’s Air Wing Unit in Subang at 2.15pm today.
Upon arrival, the 38-year-old will be transported to the Selangor police headquarters in Shah Alam as part of the investigation process.
Hafizul, dressed in a purple prison uniform, is under heavy police escort as he boarded the police’s King Air B300 aircraft in Kota Bharu, Kelantan.
He is also accompanied by officers from Bukit Aman’s criminal investigation department (CID), including director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.
This morning, he was brought to the Kota Bharu magistrates’ court where the authorities were granted a seven-day remand order.
After a 36-hour manhunt, Hafizul was caught yesterday at about 3pm with a gun on him in front of a private hospital in Jalan Bayam, Kelantan – metres away from the state police headquarters.
He was apprehended by the Special Crime Investigation Department of the Kelantan contingent’s CID.
Although he was trying to shoot his wife Farah Md Isa at the airport, one of the two bullets hit one of her bodyguards, Muhammad Nur Hadith Zaini.
Nur Hadith is currently undergoing major abdominal surgery after being put in an induced coma after he was rushed to the hospital. – April 16, 2024
