Cinta Gaza CEO Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman says PM’s aide Farhan Fauzi also played key role in ‘crazy’ mission

KUALA LUMPUR – A Malaysian social activist has thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who endeavoured to extract his Palestinian wife and family out of war-torn Gaza.

In a post on his Facebook page, Muhammad Nadir Al-Nuri Kamaruzaman, the Cinta Gaza Malaysia chief executive officer, said Anwar successfully utilised diplomatic means to extract them from the conflict zone.

Nadir also recounted his latest trip to Gaza, which was a high-risk journey.

Nadir, calling the mission “crazy”, stated that initially, he and Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisation chief executive Ahmad Sani Araby Al-Kahery had the opportunity to meet the prime minister at a previous event.

He said that Anwar’s political secretary Farhan Fauzi played a significant role in facilitating the mission, often inviting them to his office in Putrajaya.

“Amid the crowd, I managed to inform him about my stranded family in Rafah. He briefly glanced at our message, gave a succinct response of ‘I will help,’ and swiftly proceeded to his next event,” Nadir recounted.

“My heart began to soften, perhaps it was merely political language. However, in my letter, I concluded with ‘We entrust ourselves to Allah.’

“I completely relied on Him and surrendered everything to Allah.”

Previously, Nadir left Gaza due to some matters in Malaysia before the Israel-Palestine conflict erupted on October 7.

Since then, he has been separated from his wife and child, only being able to communicate every other day due to disruptions in the telecommunications network and internet coverage.

In May 2016, Nadir married the widow of a Palestinian fighter, Reem Al-Minawi, after knowing her for three years.

Nadir said a day before Aidilfitri, he was contacted by Farhan – a key figure behind this mission.

From the outset of the conflict, Nadir said Farhan had been the one frequently inviting him to his office in Putrajaya and always inquiring about the situation of our families and the developments in Gaza.

“This time, his tone was different, somewhat serious, and he informed us to come to a special location. Only Sani and I were allowed to go there! Allahuakbar. What’s going on here?

“As we arrived, a black vehicle was waiting. I was anxious, feeling like I was in a movie.”

“I was utterly surprised when the door opened, and I was embraced by my child, who had been appearing in my dreams for so many nights.

“A father’s tears overflowed, unable to contain the longing,” he wrote.

Nadir also expressed admiration for the prime minister’s bold advocacy for the Palestinian people in Gaza.

“Whether one likes him or not, in the Palestinian issue, the people need a strong advocate.

“Palestine once relied on the fierceness of Saddam Hussein, then on Erdogan’s outspokenness.

“Now it’s our turn, and what we can be proud of is Malaysia’s firm solidarity,” Nadir stated.

“The prime minister’s action in blocking the entry of coloniser ships into our ports, the firm declaration of support for Hamas, and the recent firm stance in front of the German Chancellor have made Malaysia’s name echo among the common people on the blessed earth’s streets and become a topic of discussion internationally.”

Meanwhile, Nadir urged everyone to continue to unite in defending the plight of their Muslim brethren there.

“To the prime minister, the Prime Minister’s Office, Sani, and all those involved in making this effort successful, whether directly or through prayers, my family and I express endless thanks.

“May Allah alone reward all of you, Ameen.” – April 15, 2024
