KUALA LUMPUR – The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has reached out to the MyNewsHub social media account operator to take a statement for uploading an old video which is said to confuse the public.

MCMC said in a statement today that the video appeared to have been posted with the intention of creating a negative perception against civil servants.

“According to a media statement from the Public Service Department (JPA), the video was a simulation on the preparedness of security personnel in the event that they are faced with a provocative attack situation.

“The case is investigated under Section 233 of the Communication and Multimedia Act 1998 which carries a maximum fine of RM50,000 or up to one year imprisonment, or both upon conviction.

“The public is reminded not to misuse network and online application services to spread any content that is untrue and fake.”

In the one-minute and 10-second long clip, a man is seen posing a question to Chief Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Zuki Ali regarding government quarters before the individual is restrained by several auxiliary police personnel who tackle him as he attempts to climb up the stage. – April 12, 2024
