KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said that Muslims should embody three main qualities in Islam, as taught by Prophet Muhammad in the act of commanding what is right and forbidding what is wrong.
In light of the recent controversies revolving around items bearing the word “Allah,” the Machang MP called on all Muslims to observe knowledge, gentleness and patience when upholding the right and condemning the wrong.
“Does Islam condone vigilante action in the name of protecting the sanctity of Islam? How should Muslims perform the injunction of commanding the right and forbidding the wrong? One has to really master these three principles first,” he said in a video posted on X today.
He said one should have knowledge before commanding right and forbidding wrong, gentleness when performing the act of commanding right and forbidding wrong, and patience to be observed after the act of forbidding wrong and commanding right.
“Therefore, as a Muslim, one must possess these three major qualities in order to execute the act of commanding what is right and forbidding what is wrong and to be successful and accepted by Allah and His Messenger.
“In the event of any such commotion in the future, Muslims should leave the act of commanding right and forbidding wrong to our political authorities.
“They possess the ‘wilayah’ or authority over public matters, which is the core principle of ‘hisbah’ or public order in governance,” he said.
Wan Fayhsal said that Muslims should avoid inciting anger, instability and disunity due to misunderstandings concerning Islam and the cultural aspects of the Malays and other races in the country.
“Because that is the only way for us to safeguard the cohesiveness of national unity and the peacefulness of our country.
“Islam highly enjoins and protects the stability, safety and security of all citizens, regardless of whether you are Muslim or non-Muslim.
“All are equal before the law, and all have the right to be observed and preserved by the government of the day,” he said.
The country was recently embroiled in controversies, the first being the backlash against convenience store chain KK Mart over the sale of socks bearing the word “Allah.”
And just as the controversy surrounding the socks seems to be calming down, another incident has sparked heated debate across the nation.
The issue surfaced when a three-minute video went viral on social media over the weekend, featuring a man claiming that the shoes he purchased bore a logo resembling the word “Allah.” – April 9, 2024
