KUALA LUMPUR – Two people have died following a tour bus accident on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak highway this morning.

The incident, which occurred at 7.50am, resulted in a major hour-long traffic congestion as the tour bus overturned and blocked the entire eastbound lane at the 51.4km point of the highway.

The Pahang Fire and Rescue Department confirmed the fatalities, saying that among the 16 passengers aboard the bus, two individuals succumbed to their injuries.

The state fire department’s public relations officer, Zaulfadli Zakaria, said the deceased were promptly handed over to law enforcement, while the injured were swiftly transported to Bentong Hospital for urgent medical attention.
