Tax structure review, Sara fund top agenda in Parliament today

Home minister will also be questioned about status of single border agency pilot project, its operational commencement

KUALA LUMPUR – Today’s Dewan Rakyat sitting will include a review of the current tax structure and the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara).

According to the Order Paper on the Parliament’s official website, Muhammad Ismi Mat Taib (Parit-PN) will question the Finance Ministry about the steps it has taken to review the current taxation structure in light of current economic changes during the question-and-answer session.

Zahari Kechik (Jeli-PN) will also ask the finance minister about the number of recipients and the funds disbursed by the government through Sara.

Datuk Shamshulkahar Mohd Deli (Jempol-BN) will question the home minister about the current status of the pilot project for a single border agency to oversee the country’s 141 entry points, as well as the target date for the new agency to begin operations.

After the session, the sitting will continue with the tabling of the Cyber Security Bill 2024 and the Constitution (Amendment) Bill 2024 for the second reading.

Today marks the last day for the First Meeting of the Third Session of the 15th Parliament, which has been ongoing for 19 days since February 26. – March 27, 2024
