KUALA LUMPUR – The Education Ministry has urged all education institutions to take precautionary measures amid the hot spell.

The ministry, in a statement today, has said that among the steps to be taken include suspending all outdoor activities and monitoring activities that expose students to hot weather to ensure their health would not be affected.

“An adequate supply of clean drinking water must also be ensured, and students are advised to consume water in appropriate quantities to regulate body temperature.

“Always be cautious and cooperate with nearby clinics and hospitals in case any complications arise for students due to the hot weather.

“All education institutions should also consider granting special permission to students, teachers and support staff to wear appropriate attire during hot weather based on the needs and situations at their respective institutions,” the statement read.

Education institutions should also stay informed about current developments through the media regarding hot weather phenomena in their respective areas from time to time.

The ministry has also stated that it takes the health, safety and wellbeing of all its members seriously. – March 19, 2024
