Mini tornado shocks Lahad Datu residents 

Zinc roof pieces, debris were seen blown away by strong wind

SANDAKAN – Residents in Lahad Datu were shocked to see a tornado causing havoc in Mile 1, Jalan Segama, in the middle of a hot day. 

The incident at about 2pm was captured on video by people in the vicinity, and their videos went viral on social media. 

Zinc roof pieces and debris were seen blown away by the strong wind as people around started panicking. 

Residents in the area claimed it was raining before the incident, but the weather had turned sunny when the tornado appeared, lasting for less than a minute. 

Lahad Datu Fire and Rescue Department head Sumsoa Rashid when contacted said that as of 3.30pm today, the department has yet to receive any report on the incident. – March 15, 2024
