PETALING JAYA – The family of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin is believed to have moved out of their residence at Idaman Apartments in Damansara Damai.

This was related to Scoop by a close neighbour of the family who wished for anonymity during a visit to the residential area yesterday.

Based on observations, the windows of Zayn Rayyan’s family home, which was on level 2, Block R, no longer has curtains as it had before, further strengthening the notion.

However, efforts to confirm the matter failed as calls to Zayn Rayyan’s mother, Ismanira Abdul Manaf, 29, went unanswered.

At the same time, another resident – who also refused to be named – said that the atmosphere in the residential area had returned to normal, though he admitted that he was still traumatised by what had happened to the boy.

According to him, the playground, which is located in front of Block R, is now more cheerful with the laughter of children who were previously afraid to come out and play, following the shocking incident that happened in December of last year.

“Now things are back to normal, just not as lively as before. Even in the playground, I noticed more and more children coming down to play.

“But for sure, now, I see many parents being vigilant and are always monitoring their children when they play in the playground.

“This place is always full of boys playing from 5pm until Maghrib,” he said.

Meanwhile, another resident who lives in Block S, who also declined to be identified, said the police are still patrolling around the area once every two days.

He said, even though it has been four months since the tragic incident, most residents are still concerned and hope that the suspect can be caught soon so that they can return to their peaceful lives as before.

“The police are still patrolling, usually in the evening. So, we feel a little safer when there are periodic patrols. I just hope that the perpetrator will be caught soon, so that the lives of the people here will return to calm as before.

“Now, we teach our children to scream when approached by strangers to prevent unwanted things from happening. I hope there is justice for Zayn later,” he said.

Earlier, the police said they will not stop investigating Zayn Rayyan’s murder and hope to get new leads that can help the investigation.

The police has also sought the help of Interpol to assist in the investigation of the case, however, until today, there has been no new development.

On December 5, Zayn Rayyan, 6, was reported missing in Damansara Damai before being found dead near a creek, about 200m away from his block of flats the next day.

The child was believed to have been murdered following an autopsy that found injuries to the neck and body due to self-defence.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code. – March 12, 2024
