KUALA LUMPUR – Kedah State Development Action Council meetings are no longer held due to Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor’s inability to be discreet about sensitive matters, council co-chairman Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said.
Saifuddin, who is also home minister, said Sanusi would disclose important information from government meetings to the public, including using such information when making political speeches to his party, PAS.
This has led to the cancellation of council meetings, Bernama quoted the minister saying in Kulim, Kedah, today.
“Some government meetings are highly confidential, some are sensitive, and if he (Sanusi) attends federal meetings and then comes back only to ridicule what happened in the meetings, then he is not maintaining decorum.
“He shouldn’t be complaining about why state development meetings are not held.”
The minister also accused Sanusi of twisting information from meetings of the council, which is a joint state-federal body on federal infrastructure projects in Kedah.
“He uses information from those meetings when giving speeches to PAS branches, even though the information conveyed does not provide a true picture,” Saifuddin said after attending a Ramadan programme for police at the Kulim district police headquarters.
He was asked to respond to Sanusi’s claims in the Kedah assembly on Thursday that Saifuddin never called for meetings to discuss federal development projects for the state.
Saifuddin added that the lack of meetings did not affect the implementation of such projects in the state. – March 10, 2024
