KUALA LUMPUR – The Human Resources Ministry will officially adopt the acronym “Kesuma” in all official matters pertaining to the ministry starting tomorrow.
In a press statement, it said the cabinet approved the change in acronym to Kesuma on March 1, derived from the first syllables of its full name in Bahasa Malaysia “Kementerian Sumber Manusia”.
The ministry said that the acronym is derived from an ancient Malay word that means “flower”.
“The significance of this linguistic expression is in line with the ministry’s 3K strategic mission, aimed at enhancing well-being, skills, and success (“kebajikan”, “kemahiran”, and “keberhasilan pekerja”).
In the past two months, in line with the strategic mission of 3K, Kesuma has strengthened cooperation with trade unions and executed reforms within the Malaysian industrial court institution, the ministry said.
It added that it firmly underscored workers’ wage rights, broadened the scope of social security schemes, enhanced the quality of skills training, and, significantly, initiated various measures to enhance governance across all departments and agencies of the ministry. – March 3, 2024
