KUALA LUMPUR – A 71-year-old man was found dead on the rooftop of a four-storey shophouse in Taman Cahaya, Ampang, yesterday evening.

Ampang Jaya police chief Mohd Azam Ismail said that his team received a call from the public at 7.08pm, alerting them of the discovery of the elderly man’s body.

A police mobile patrol vehicle team, along with personnel from the Ampang and Petaling Jaya Fire and Rescue Stations and an ambulance from Ampang Hospital, were swiftly deployed to the location.

“The police, assisted by the Fire Department, utilised a fire engine to access the shophouse’s roof and discovered the victim’s body,” Azam said in a statement today.

“Preliminary investigations revealed no signs of criminal activity, and the death was confirmed by Ampang Hospital medical personnel present at the scene.”

Azam said that the Fire and Rescue Department safely brought down the victim’s body, which was subsequently transported to the Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia forensic unit for a post-mortem examination.

Results from the examination conducted today identified myocardial infarction due to coronary atheroma, or heart attack, as the cause of death, he added. – February 16, 2024
