KUALA LUMPUR – The bodies of two children, believed to have been swept away by a water surge yesterday at Sg Kenjur in Kg Poh, Bidor, were found this morning.
This was confirmed by Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon, according to Berita Harian.
He said the rescue team found the first body at 9am, followed by the second body just 10 minutes later.
The victims were identified as Hanna Mikayla Azam and Hanum Marissa Azam, aged seven and two, respectively.
It was reported yesterday that a family’s picnic outing turned tragic when a mother was found dead and three of her children went missing in a water-surge incident.
The body of Aszura Bani, 37, was found at about 4.30pm yesterday, and about five hours later, the body of her son, Hafif Muhayat Azam, 4, was found by villagers.
However, as of last night, two of her children, Hanna and Hanum, remained missing.
Besides them, three other individuals were found safe: Aszura’s sister, Aslinda Bani, 38, along with her 11-year-old son, and an Indonesian domestic helper in her 30s.
Sayani said the rescue operation led by the Fire Department, which involved a total of 50 rescuers from various agencies aided by the K-9 unit, resumed at 8am today. – February 8, 2024
