KUALA LUMPUR – The call from a PKR man for Umno to replace its president, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, has triggered questions over the performance of Economy Minister Rafizi Ramli and Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek.
Umno Supreme Council member Datuk Mohd Puad Zarkashi took a swipe at PKR’s Hassan Karim after the Pasir Gudang MP said removing Zahid would allow Umno to regain support from the Malays.
He added that Hassan should instead urge the government to replace supposedly non-performing ministers from PKR.
“That is the problem with Hassan…he and several other PKR leaders lack self-awareness.
“What has Rafizi Ramli done for the people’s economy other than introducing the Central Database Hub (Padu)?
“Don’t forget, the Sarawak premier also made negative comments about the education minister from PKR. Hassan should urge PMX (Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim) to do an evaluation on this”, said Puad in a Facebook post today.
“Umno did not interfere in PKR’s affairs when Rafizi won the PKR deputy president post. Don’t be a hypocrite about getting involved (in Umno’s matters).”
He added that Zahid’s appointment as Umno president is determined by party grassroots.
Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Openg had criticised the continued changes in the country’s education policies, adding that not enough emphasis is being placed on mastering English.
However, he did not specify if he was referring to current Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek, who is also Wanita PKR chief. – February 1, 2024
