KUALA LUMPUR – Bersatu needs to reflect and admit that there is an internal problem when more of its members of parliament are declaring support for the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
Supreme council member Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan said that Bersatu needs to address this issue because if no immediate steps are taken to overcome it, it may repeat, involving other members.
“The leadership of Bersatu needs to reflect on why such things are happening under the leadership of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, who has unanimous support in the party.
“The ones who are changing their support are all from Bersatu, and we have to accept the fact that there is a problem that needs immediate solving.
“Bersatu should not be in denial about the challenges within the party, and we need to put in all the efforts to solve them. If we do not solve it, this could continue (Bersatu parliamentarians change their support).
“I think Bersatu, as a party that is only six or seven years old, has to accept the fact that many more construction programs need to be done to build a strong identity among members and the leaders,” he told the media after the Intellectual Discourse on Bumiputera Development Under Civilian Government programme that took place at Anjung Melayu, here today.
At the same time, Wan Saiful also denied the allegation of Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal who stated that two camps are causing a split in Bersatu’s leadership.
According to Wan Saiful, the allegation is baseless and does not at all reflect the party’s current situation as Syed Abu Hussin said.
“I don’t know where this story came from. It is important to take note that the position of secretary-general (Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin) was appointed by the president (Muhyiddin), as well as the treasurer, the head of information, and the additional supreme leadership council. I don’t see the existence of a camp.
“I don’t know where he got the information. We move as a team and discuss in meetings. I don’t see anything unhealthy in Bersatu,” he said. – January 28, 2024
