KUALA LUMPUR – Multiple areas in Klang Valley, especially in Klang and Shah Alam, have been hit with flash floods, following an extensive downpour this afternoon.

The floods also affected Batu Tiga KTM station, resulting in one of the Port Klang-KL Sentral-Klang lanes being closed.

KTM Bhd tweeted that the trains will also have longer stops at the station to allow for trains on the opposite track to pass if there are train clashes from the opposite side.

As of 6.43pm, Astro Radio Traffic reported that the flash floods at the Simpang Rimba roundabout in Klang have caused massive congestion issues in Jalan Tengku Kelana and Jalan Klang-Banting.

Netizens also shared clips of inundated streets in Bukit Tinggi and Taman Bayu Perdana, Klang.

“Bukit Tinggi, Klang, is flooded! I want to go home,” lamented user @AfSyahMe.

“A mere two-hour downpour, and it is already flooding. Klang rarely gets flooded,” the same user added, likening today’s flood to the massive floods in December 2021.

Meanwhile, user @AdibRuzaini_ shared dashcam images of vehicles going through ankle-deep flood waters in Shah Alam’s Hicom-Glenmarie industrial area, as well as Section 19 and 20, a little after 4.50pm.

Earlier today, the Meteorological Department (METMalaysia) predicted a thunderstorm to hit several areas in Selangor, including Klang, Petaling, Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Kuala Langat and Sepang. – January 23, 2024
