KUALA LUMPUR – Authorities are awaiting DNA test results of the partial human remains found in an abandoned house in Batu 7, Tongkang Pechah in Batu Pahat.

The discovery of the remains is believed to be related to the case of the disappearance of 32-year-old single mother Mira Sharmila Samsusah or Bella.

Batu Pahat police chief Ismail Dollah said an autopsy was completed at Sultan Ismail Hospital Forensic Department in Johor Bahru.

“The pathology samples will be submitted to the Chemistry Department for DNA comparison to identify the victim,” he said in a statement today.

He added that the three suspects will be detained until January 27 to aid in the murder investigation.

Yesterday, Johor police chief Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat said the skeleton was found at about 2pm after one of the arrested suspects led the police to the house.

“Bella’s family has been informed about the discovery, but we have not been able to confirm whether the skeleton belongs to the woman.”

Bella, a single mother of two children, could not be contacted since she was last seen leaving the house in her boyfriend’s car to do laundry at a laundromat on December 14.

However, she has been unreachable since.

Bella’s sister Norisham said when she was informed of the human remains, she trusted her intuition which said it was not Bella. – January 20, 2024
