KUALA LUMPUR – Opposition bloc Perikatan Nasional (PN) has replaced its youth chief with PAS’ Alor Setar MP Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden, effective today.
PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi is replacing PAS’ Pasir Mas MP Ahmad Fadhli Shaari, who served between January 6, 2022 and January 19, 2024.
This was decided during the coalition’s supreme council meeting last night, which was chaired by Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and attended by PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man and Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau, among others.
The announcement was made by PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin in a Facebook post today.
Afnan Hamimi made national headlines when he clinched the Alor Setar seat in the 2022 general election, becoming the first Malay to win the parliamentary constituency since 1955. He was also appointed PAS Youth chief for the 2023-2025 term, winning the party polls uncontested.
He is also the son of former National Mosque imam Datuk Taib Azammudden Md Taib. – January 20, 2024
