KUALA LUMPUR – Investigation papers on a Harakah reporter and two other media practitioners for allegedly trespassing into the official residence of the Selangor Menteri Besar will be submitted to the public prosecutor’s office tomorrow.

Shah Alam police chief Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim said police completed investigations within the two-day remand period for the suspects, which began yesterday.

“Tomorrow, we will refer the papers to the Selangor deputy public prosecutor,” he said in a statement

The three men, between 31 and 35-years-old, were arrested about 7.30pm on Friday.

Their arrest followed a police report lodged by a staff member of the Selangor MB’s residence after the trio attempted to enter the premises without invitation or permission.

The reporter for Harakah, which is a PAS publication, had initially tried to persuade the residence’s security officials to allow him entry but failed.

He then attempted to enter secretly by hiding in a Proton Waja transporting the other two individuals to the residence for a meeting.

However, police thwarted the second attempt when they inspected the vehicle in the residence’s parking lot.

Iqbal said investigations were conducted under Section 447 of the Penal Code for criminal trespassing which provides imprisonment for up to three months or with a maximum fine of of RM1,000, or both, if found guilty.

The three individuals were also captured on video being apprehended by the residence’s staff and the clip went viral on social media. – January 7, 2024
