Stop karaoke, stop Langkah Dubai talk, Fahmi tells Sanusi

Kedah MB should focus on governing his state, says govt spokesman

KUALA LUMPUR – Singing karaoke and talking about the government’s collapse are things Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor should stop so that he can focus on his work, government spokesman Fahmi Fadzil said today.

Fahmi, who is also communications minister, panned Sanusi’s recent remarks expressing confidence that the unity government would collapse soon as moves to overthrow it were in motion before reports of the recent Langkah Dubai attempt.

“Rather than make such comments, Sanusi should change his ways. Stop singing karaoke at midnight with unknown women, focus on governing the state.

“Sanusi has many problems he needs to manage, he is a menteri besar and not an MP, so he should focus on his state,” Fahmi said to reporters today after a programme at the Kerinchi People’s Housing Project in his constituency, Lembah Pantai.

Fahmi’s reference to Sanusi’s karaoke antics is based on a video the menteri besar posted on his TikTok showing himself belting it out in a karaoke session. Also in the video was an unidentified woman.

Sanusi, who is Kedah PAS deputy commissioner, had earlier this week commented on news of Langkah Dubai, a purported gathering of opposition figures and government leaders in the United Arab Emirates last month to identify government MPs who could be persuaded to switch sides.

Such remarks about the collapse of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s government have circulated now and then since it was formed after the general election in November 2022.

However, on December 30, Community Communications Department deputy director Datuk Ismail Yusop became the first government officer to talk about Langkah Dubai in a public social media post, claiming opposition MPs and some government lawmakers were orchestrating a plot to bring down the unity government. – January 6, 2024
