KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim attempted to visit PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang at the National Heart Institute (IJN) this afternoon, but the latter was undergoing dialysis.

According to Bernama, Hadi, 76, has been warded at IJN following a heart check-up on Monday.

Anwar went to the heart institute this afternoon after performing Friday prayers at a mosque in Bandar Baru Selayang.

However, he did not meet Hadi as the Marang MP was receiving dialysis treatment.

Anwar said he was informed that the PAS leader was in stable condition.

“I was told by the doctor that he is stable, and is undergoing dialysis today,” Bernama reported him saying.

Anwar had also gone to IJN to visit his friend, British scholar Prof Ziauddin Sardar, but did not disclose what the issue was.

“We pray that they will be healthy, God willing, recover and be able to carry out their duties as usual,” he said of both Hadi and Ziauddin.

According to Bernama, Ziauddin is a long-time friend of Anwar’s and had served him as an adviser when the latter was deputy prime minister. – January 5, 2024
