Jalan Silang hit again as DBKL acts against errant premises

City council seizes items, vehicles; issues notices to take down illegal fixtures

KUALA LUMPUR – Kuala Lumpur City Hall has taken action against 49 premises along Jalan Silang during a raid today. 

The city council also seized 12 vehicles and nine motorcycles, as well as compounded 45 vehicles over various traffic offences.

In a statement, DBKL said the raid involved checks on 110 business activities, traders, pavement obstruction, migrant workers, illegal stalls and others.

It added that 29 premises had to move their equipment as they were taking away public spaces as well as being manned by migrant workers.

Some 20 unlicensed traders, including three foreigners, saw their equipment seized. 

DBKL also issued 25 notices to take down structural extensions, accessories, advertisements and illegal posters.

A total of 29 compounds were issued to premises owners for various offences, such as operating without permits and illegal extensions.

All the confiscated items and vehicles will be moved to DBKL’s store in Jalan Lombong Taman Miharja Cheras and the depot in Jalan Pahang, respectively.

On December 21, more than 1,000 police officers conducted a massive raid in Jalan Silang where 1,101 foreigners were detained for checks. – January 5, 2024
