KUALA LUMPUR – The government will channel RM50 million in financial aid to help flood victims in Kelantan.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said each affected family will receive cash assistance of RM1,000.

“The initial allocation was approved through the National Disaster Management Agency and will be distributed directly to the residents and families involved, RM1,000 per family.

“I was informed by the menteri besar of Kelantan earlier (that) there are families who have faced the problem of floods three times and with very heavy damage, insya-Allah we will help,” he said.

He said this at a press conference after visiting flood victims at the relief centre in SMK Agama Lati in Pasir Mas, today.

Also present were Kelantan Menteri Besar Datuk Mohd Nassuruddin Daud and Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.
