Flash floods hit Tanjung Karang, slowing down traffic

KUALA LUMPUR – Tanjung Karang faced a sudden deluge this evening, as heavy rains and strong winds triggered flash floods in the area. 

Social media users alerted commuters to anticipate delays in both directions along Jalan Klang-Teluk Intan, with some posting videos showing several vehicles cautiously navigating through the floodwaters. 

Another Facebook user shared a video showing slow-moving traffic, with drivers carefully navigating the inundated roads. 

Earlier, the Meteorological Department issued a warning for thunderstorms, heavy rains, and strong winds in seven states, including Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Perak, Johor, Sarawak, Sabah, and Labuan. 

As of noon today, a total of 25,438 individuals have been evacuated to 199 relief centres due to floods and landslides in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, and Selangor. – December 26, 2023
