KUALA LUMPUR – A Year 6 pupil staying at a hostel in Melaka Tengah was allegedly sodomised 30 times by his dormmate since April.

Melaka police chief Datuk Zainol Samah said the 12-year-old boy had initially refrained from telling anyone about the ordeal, fearing for his safety.

After eight months of keeping mum, the boy told his father about the assaults when he returned home to Taman Bertam on Sunday (December 24).

“The boy told his father about the series of incidents as he could no longer take it.

“The father confronted the suspect by inviting him to his house on the same day before hitting him. The suspect suffered injuries to the back of his head,” Zainol said in a statement on Tuesday (December 26).

He said three policemen on patrol intervened and arrested the 20-year-old suspect from Kepala Batas, Penang.

The boy’s father also lodged a report at the Tengkera police station at about 2.30pm on Sunday, he added.

Based on the report, the victim alleged that he was sodomised multiple times by the 20-year-old unemployed suspect in the hostel room since May.

Zainol said the boy had been living at the hostel since April with his mother, a teaching assistant at a religious institution.

He added that the suspect has been remanded for six days to help with the investigation under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. – December 26, 2023
