Seven PN MPs ‘waiting for the right time’ to support Anwar: Bersatu MP

KUALA LUMPUR – Bukit Gantang MP Datuk Syed Abu Hussin Hafiz Syed Abdul Fasal has reiterated his prediction that seven more Perikatan Nasional (PN) lawmakers are likely to pledge their support for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Bersatu politician said MPs, from both from his party and PAS, are merely waiting for the right time to make a public announcement on the matter.

Although there has been no announcements since he revealed the matter last week, Syed Abu Hussin is confident that these MPs will express support for the Madani government.

“They are just waiting for the right time; there are few from PAS and Bersatu. If it doesn’t happen by the end of this year, then early next year.

“But I can’t reveal who the MPs are yet. When the time comes, I will announce. Insya-Allah, based on their disappointment with PN, they are sure to support Anwar.

“PAS has already even begun talks of filling vacant positions, so I’m telling you now (that PN members will pledge their support for Anwar), and it will happen soon,” he told Scoop today.

According to Syed Abu Hussin, a growing number of PN MPs are now switching their support to Anwar due to PN leaders’ reluctance to negotiate with the unity government over constituency allocations.

Last week, he claimed that about seven or eight MPs in several states would throw their support behind the prime minister.

Hulu Terengganu MP Datuk Rosol Wahid was among the names mentioned, however he denied allegations of supporting Anwar or the Madani government.

On November 28, Syed Abu Hussin became the fifth opposition MP to declare support for Anwar, following Datuk Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid (Kuala Kangsar), Datuk Suhaili Abdul Rahman (Labuan), Azizi Abu Naim (Gua Musang), and Zahari Kechik (Jeli).

Meanwhile, Syed Abu Hussin confirmed that he has yet to be summoned by the party’s disciplinary board for his actions to support the Madani government.

Previously, Bersatu information chief Datuk Razali Idris said he is confident that no more MPs from the party will throw their support behind Anwar and the unity government. – December 19, 2023
