KUALA LUMPUR – Passengers onboard Malaysia Airlines flight MH004 to London this morning were left dismayed after in-flight entertainment was not made available throughout the 14-hour journey.
Taking to X (formerly Twitter), local celebrity and TV host, Sarimah Ibrahim, said her morning flight to London via MH004 had technical issues with the screens not functioning.
Despite paying the full airfare, Sarimah lamented that her seats had no in-flight entertainment, which made it difficult especially when travelling with her 4-year-old child.
She said she was not the only one who faced the issue as other passengers were left without available in-flight entertainment options, especially those with children on the flight.
Sarimah also claimed the pilot did not allow passengers to change their seats to ones with working screens.
“Apparently Captain Hafiz won’t allow switching of any seats even with the crew who are in their seats which have screens that work.
“No reason given. So disappointing but the crew were trying their best though,” she said in her post.
Meanwhile, in response to her post, MAS responded by asking Sarimah to fill in a survey about the issues she encountered onboard the flight.
The airline also stated that investigations will be conducted as soon as it receives feedback on the matter.
“We note that the incident happened at the airport, which involved our ground staff or the airport staff.
“This incident requires further investigation into the procedure of check-in as well as customer handling,” it said.
Meanwhile, X users were in unison with Sarimah’s complaint as they expressed similar experiences flying with MAS as the national carrier failed to improve its services.
“No more MAS for me. It used to be a sentimental choice for Malaysians abroad but post-Covid, the services went downhill.
“Now, it’s Changi or BKK (Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport) layover for my Europe flights.
“London routes? SIA (Singapore Airlines) all the way. Long flights with Asian flavors and movie marathons,” posted user @CorporateslaveR.
X user @nasilemaktelur also experienced the same issues on the flight from Kuala Lumpur to Doha and was disappointed that the local airline has not improved after receiving many consumer complaints.
