KUALA LUMPUR – A man has accused an AirAsia flight attendant of allegedly overcharging for food and beverages during his flight from Kuching to Kuala Lumpur on December 14.
Taking to Facebook, user Brendan Kon claimed the air stewardess had charged RM12 for a cup of hot Americano coffee but later discounted it to RM11.
“In my mind, I started wondering who gave her the authority to offer a discount and who would cover the shortfall. My instinct told me to double-check the price.
“The price for the hot Americano was actually RM9. I immediately confronted the flight attendant. She acted innocent and apologised, then refunded the RM2,” he wrote.
He said his wife had also been overcharged by the flight attendant for in-flight food and drinks.
“The same stewardess had overcharged her an extra RM3. My wife confronted the attendant and got her refund.
“I also alerted the passengers seated behind, and they too had been wrongly charged,” he said.
He also cautioned the public, stating that the modus operandi of some unscrupulous AirAsia flight attendants was to make extra money.
“Be extra vigilant, and always check your bills if you purchase any in-flight food or merchandise when you fly with AirAsia,” he added.
The post has since been removed from the user’s page.
AirAsia has been the subject of scrutiny in the past week.
Recently, a Malay businesswoman and internet celebrity, Liana Rosli, also known as ‘Kak KM,’ was reported to have discovered her luggage had been unlawfully accessed, with RM10,000 in cash and three designer bags worth RM16,000 gone missing.
In a video posted on her TikTok account, she claimed that despite strict regulations prohibiting sharp objects on board, her luggage exhibited signs of being pried open by such tools, prompting suspicion of foul play.
Without naming the airline, she said she was asked to board last despite reserving a ‘hot seat,’ only to find her belongings stowed at the rear due to limited overhead space.
