[UPDATED] Former J-Kom chief Agus gives statement to police

He spends two hours being quizzed as cops probe alleged lewd call with agency staffer

KAJANG – Former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff spent about two hours having his statement recorded at the Kajang police headquarters today.

He arrived at around 11am together with his lawyer, Zaflee Pakwanteh, and emerged from the station at 1.17pm.

Both of them headed straight to a car and did not speak to reporters.

Agus is being investigated over a recording of a video call between him and a junior J-Kom staffer, Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani, in which the former appears to make lewd remarks. Both men have claimed that while the call did take place, the audio had been manipulated.

Wahab has also lodged a report against Agus for alleged sexual harassment.

Wahab had lodged his police report on December 1, claiming that former political lecturer Agus had sexually harassed him on October 21 at a hotel in Bintulu, Sarawak.

Wahab had previously claimed that he was pressured by a “Mr H”, who also worked in J-Kom, to record a video call with Agus for the purpose of entrapment.

Agus resigned last month, just before the purportedly doctored clip of the video call went viral.

Police, which had submitted investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers on the video call, later said fresh papers would be submitted to include details on Wahab’s allegations of sexual harassment against Agus. – December 14, 2023
