Indonesian worker killed, buried under mounds of earth in Lipis construction site

Police believe victim was buried for 15 minutes before being discovered unconscious

KUANTAN – An Indonesian labourer was killed after he was buried by mounds of earth in Kg Berembang, Padang Tengku in Lipis, near here today.

According to Lipis district police chief Azli Mohd Noor, the police were alerted about the incident at 11.15am, when the victim, Khairul Anam, 28, was buried while measuring the depth of a newly dug drain.

“Based on the information, it was believed that heaps of soil fell on the victim, causing three of his friends to immediately go down to help remove him.

“The victim is said to have been buried for 15 minutes before being found unconscious,” he said.

The victim, who is from East Java, is understood to have only been working with a sub-contractor company for construction work related to the Lingkaran Tengah Utama route for five months.

Azli said the victim’s body was taken to Kuala Lipis Hospital for a post-mortem. – December 11, 2023
