PETALING JAYA – A total of 5,628 Idaman Apartments residents were inspected and 228 had their DNA samples taken in a surprise operation last night as part of the police investigation into the murder of six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin.
Selangor police chief Datuk Hussein Omar Khan told the media here today that 278 officers were involved and were divided into 90 teams during last night’s operation.
When asked if any DNA evidence was found at the crime scene, he replied “tiada” (none).
He added that the wet weather slowed down the evidence collection process.
All the 2,484 units at the 18-block area were inspected as well.

The police are continuing their investigation into Zayn Rayyan’s murder. His body was found on December 6 near a river bank some 100m from Block R, where he stayed with his parents and younger brother.
The police then reclassified his death as murder after the post-mortem showed injuries indicating asphyxiation, among others.
Earlier today, the police deployed two dogs from their K9 Unit for house-to-house inspection.
