PETALING JAYA – The body of Zayn Rayyan Abdul Matiin, a 6-year-old autistic boy who went missing yesterday afternoon in Damansara Damai, was found near a river close to his residence at about 10pm last night.

A group of residents conducting a search operation discovered the young boy’s body lying near the river, approximately 200m from his home at Apartment Idaman, a local news site reported.

The police have already sealed off the trail from the residential area to the location where Zayn Rayyan’s body was discovered.

Petaling Jaya police chief Mohamad Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, who was present on site, confirmed the discovery.

“I cannot provide further details at this time, as we have just located the victim’s body. We are currently investigating the surrounding area where the body was found,” he was quoted as saying.

Zayn Rayyan was last seen entering the jungle area near the apartment.

His disappearance caught the attention of his mother as they ascended the stairs to their third-floor apartment around 12.30pm on Tuesday.

Ismanira Abdul Manaf, 28, shared that after realising her son was missing, she attempted to search the surrounding area without success.

She then informed her husband and local residents to assist in finding Zayn Rayyan.

Yesterday, Fakhrudin Abdul Hamid, sought the public’s help in locating Zayn Rayyan, saying that the police received the report of his disappearance at 6.36pm on Tuesday.

“The young boy was last seen wearing a white collared T-shirt with the SK Damansara Damai 2 emblem, black sports pants, and black school shoes,” he said. – December 7, 2023
