Three arrested over death of senior citizen stabbed 27 times

Police remand two men, a woman, believed to be friends of victim

GEORGE TOWN – Police arrested two men and a woman to facilitate an investigation into the death of a senior citizen who was stabbed 27 times in the parking area of an apartment in Jalan Perak here yesterday.

Acting Timur Laut district police chief V. Saravanan said the three individuals, aged between 29 and 42, who are believed to be close friends of the victim, were arrested at separate locations in Jelutong at about 7.30pm yesterday.

“Police are investigating the motive for the killing, and the three individuals are on remand for three days until December 8 to facilitate the investigation,” he said here today.

Saravanan said the investigation is being conducted under Section 302 of the Penal Code and called for those with information on the incident to contact the nearest police station. – December 6, 2023
