KUALA LUMPUR – Police will be re-submitting their investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) on an indecent video allegedly featuring former Community Communications Department director-general Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the submission will include details on department staff member Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani’s allegations of sexual harassment against Agus, as recorded in a police report on November 30.

The investigation papers will be re-submitted after several steps are taken regarding the claim, Berita Harian reported Razarudin as saying.

“(These steps include obtaining) technical reports from other agencies, including the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission and telecommunications companies.

“The direction of the investigation is the same, which is to find the truth and (ensure) justice for both parties, even though there is a separate investigation paper (on Wahab’s sexual harassment allegation),” Razarudin was quoted as saying by Berita Harian.

Wahab had previously lodged a police report claiming that the harassment occurred on October 21 at a hotel in Bintulu, Sarawak.

The claim is being investigated under Penal Code provisions – namely Section 354 on assault or use of criminal force to a person with intent to outrage modesty as well as Section 377D on gross indecency.

Razarudin said then that Wahab had lodged the report to protect himself and deny involvement in attempts to bring about Agus’ downfall.

The report was made on the same day Wahab had provided his statement to police after claiming that he was pressured by a “Mr H” to record a video call with Agus, which was later supposedly doctored and leaked online.

Last week, Razarudin said the investigation paper on the video had been referred to the AGC. – December 5, 2023
