KUALA LUMPUR – In a surprising twist, police said they are now investigating former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Datuk Mohammad Agus Yusoff over allegations of sexual harassment against his former assistant Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jilani.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said that the probe follows a complaint lodged by Wahab, who previously appeared to be on Agus’ side amid their widely-publicised video call scandal.

“Based on the report, Wahab alleged that the incident occurred on October 21 at a hotel in Bintulu, Sarawak,” Razarudin was quoted as saying by Sinar Harian today.

Razarudin said the police will be calling several individuals to have their statement recorded to facilitate investigations.

He added that police have opened investigation papers on the matter under Penal Code provisions – namely Section 354 for assault or use of criminal force to a person with intent to outrage modesty as well as Section 377D for gross indecency.

He also said that Wahab had lodged the report to protect himself and deny involvement in attempts to bring about Agus’ downfall.

On November 30, police confirmed that Wahab had lodged a report regarding a lewd video recording of a conversation involving individuals resembling him and Agus.

Wahab had previously claimed that he was pressured by a “Mr H” to record a video call with Agus, which was later supposedly doctored and leaked online.

Wahab has since reportedly confirmed the identity of Mr H with police, with Razarudin earlier today noting that the investigation paper into the video has been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers. – December 1, 2023
