KUALA LUMPUR – Maybank’s services today experienced disruptions in the instant transfer feature on its Maybank2u website and MAE application, prompting a panic among customers.
As an alternative, the bank advised users to proceed with Interbank Giro transfer transactions instead.
Maybank, in a posting on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), said it was actively working to identify and resolve the problem that has affected the transfer services for several hours.
“We are in the process of addressing this issue to ensure that services can resume as usual. We appreciate your patience and cooperation. Thank you for your understanding,” it said.
Meanwhile, on social media, numerous users expressed frustration over the ongoing inability to conduct online transactions.
@MalAhsan_ voiced discontent, saying he was “Frustrated with no statement from Maybank. Unable to reach the helpline, and the tag isn’t working. People urgently need access to their money, you know.”
Another user, @RanjitR41309641, reported a transfer issue, saying he has “Been trying to transfer from my current account since morning, finally managed to 6k transfer to my Cimb personal account..Amount deducted from Mbb didn’t reached Cimb it’s been hours now! none of your customer care team is responding as well!”
In addition, an X user, @dhaniyahsopian, shared concerns about funds placed under the ‘fund’ function in the MAE application disappearing due to the problem.
“Hi Maybank, please help; all my savings in MAE are gone. What is happening?” the user asked, later updating that the fund balance had returned to normal after checking a few minutes later. – November 27, 2023
